Hello again from the farm.  Spring will be here soon, and for the gardeners out there it cannot come quick enough.  Here is something to think about.  Our FRB overseas projects teach villages to grow crops better,  share the bounty, teach others what they have learned, and thank God for what he provides.  Why can't we practice what we preach?
Grow crops better.  Start a local garden club and see what has worked for others in your community.  Treat your garden like it is a small farm, plan for the whole year.  This spring is a good time to add nutrients from compost (make a bin for this year if you do not have one already) or fertilizer. Plan what when and where your are going to plant.
What- it is always fun to try a new plant and repeat from those that have yielded well.
When- Read your seed packets for days to produce a crop, avoid planting everything that will mature at the same time.  Zucchini, Beans, and a lot of other vegetables mature at 45-55 days so plant your early crops and stagger when others are planted by reusing the same space again.  I plant beans and scallop squash as late as August 1st for a fall crop but try a July 4th garden of Zucchini, Scallop Squash, Green beans, peas, lima beans, or Sweet corn.
Where- Remember to rotate where you plant a specific plant each year and use a 3 year plan to reduce plant diseases.
    Like our overseas FRB projects:
Share the bounty.  Contact a food pantry or set a place in your church to deliver extra food from your garden.  How much zucchini can anyone eat anyway?
Teach others what you have learned. By showing a novice gardener or join a garden club.
Thank God what he has provided.  The Soil, weather, seeds, and harvest.

I will be providing updates on my garden as well as the crops on the farm.  Serving together, Dean Lundeen
