CROP CONDITION GRAPH
2012 IN RED DROPPING SHARPLY
CURRENT DROUGHT MAP ANIMATED SHOWING DECLINING CONDITIONS AT:
Thank You for your prayers. I have received some rain each of the last two weekends and no severe weather. Some in the area had 70 to 80 mph winds that knocked down corn. At this stage the corn will mostly straighten up but will slow down the speed of combines this fall. My corn will pollinate next week and there are already enough insects on the plants to require insecticide to control them. If they are allowed to multiply all of the silk will be eaten off by the insects and pollination will not occur. I will continue to monitor that.
We need to continue to pray for the farmers that were not so lucky as the rain has not fallen in the southern parts of the corn belt and many other areas. Some of their corn received less than 1 inch of rain in all of May and June, and when it was pollinating had temperatures over 100 degrees. The two combined has produced no grain on the plant. The total amount of acres that will not be harvested will not be known for several more weeks. There are reports of fields being mowed down. If there is no grain to fill they need to preserve that moisture for next year and not waste any preserving a dying plant.
Serving together, Dean Lundeen
