Weather and yield trends

Yes there has been a change in weather here.  As the map shows some improvement in all the eastern corn belt.  We keep praying for rain to fall before the ground freezes this winter so the soils can be replenished for next years crop. The problem is that many fields have been under stress all year and rain and wind will increase ears dropping off of the stalks reducing yields further.  Now we need rain for next year and dry for harvest this year.  My feeling is never complain about a rain and this year exemplifies that, what can you grow without rain?
Although many fields were harmed by weather this summer it seems that there are enough areas that were able to hold on by spotty rains that they are producing above expectations.  I expect that the total harvest bushels will begin to look larger.  Informa Economics is targeting a 11.093 billion bu. corn harvest.  I think they are close but the final numbers will take some time to be accurate.
