We all know of the works of Santa Clause, giving to the needy children out of his goodness and kind heart. We as Christians have the responsibility to do just that. This past fall we again celebrated our harvest of crops with a pledge of helping others. Just as Santa keeps reaching in his big red bag of toys that magically holds more that seems possible, we are going to start our 10th year working with Foods Resource Bank and every year it seems that together we can do more than seems possible. The congregations gathered together on a rainy day and although rain kept some people away we were just as successful as before. The dry weather looked as if the farm partners would be harvesting less from their fields but those fields, just like Santa's bag held more that seemed possible.
Yes I believe in Santa Clause because he is a modern day parable of the work we can do as Christians. Santa's big red bag is the blessings we recieve from God. No matter how many of our blessings we share with others God gives us more. I am proud to be associated with FRB because we can be like that Santa and give to others. The original Santa Clause was Jesus Christ who gave everything he had to others, all of us. As we celebrate his birth tomorrow lets remember what he gave us and think of what we can give others.
Merry Christmas, Dean
